Dr Spányik is dedicated to a comprehensive approach to psychosomatic and functional disorders, with a particular focus on their physical and psychological interconnections. As a psychotherapist and candidate in psychoanalysis, he specialises in trauma, the effects of stress and burnout, and the integrated application of psychotherapeutic and psychiatric knowledge.
He graduated in 2013 from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pécs. He began his professional career at the National Ambulance Service and worked for several years as an emergency physician. Later, he deepened his expertise in psychiatry and psychotherapy. He is a specialist in occupational health, a certified psychotherapist, and a psychiatry resident; in addition, he holds method-specific psychoanalytic training and is trained as a Balint group leader.
Dr Spányik is the author of numerous professional publications, with research focusing on psychosomatic disorders, trauma, and burnout. He is currently working on his PhD dissertation, which investigates the mental health of healthcare workers, burnout, and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is also active in social initiatives. He is the founder, curator, and medical director of the MedSpot (“Medical Help on the Spot”) Foundation. As part of the foundation’s outreach missions, he has been regularly involved since the start of the Russian–Ukrainian war in providing medical and mental health care to internally displaced persons in Transcarpathia.
‘As a psychotherapist, it is important to me to integrate physical and psychological processes. My work is deeply informed by my experience as a candidate in psychoanalysis. Together with my patients, we develop the most appropriate therapeutic strategy, whether it involves psychotherapy, psychiatric care, or a combination of both.
I am particularly committed to treating psychosomatic illnesses and trauma, and to promoting mental health, especially among those who help others. As one of the founders and medical director of our institution, my goal is to ensure the highest level of professional support for everyone who turns to us.’
