As a child psychiatrist, Dr Garas diagnoses and treats psychiatric problems in children and adolescents (primarily ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders) over the age of 4. He also provides psychotherapy for adults.

He graduated from the Semmelweis University in Budapest in 2009. He started his residency training in psychiatry, during which he soon became committed to child and adolescent psychiatry. Then, he worked at the Vadaskert Hospital for 9 years, while also working in the fields of pedagogy and child protection. Along with his activity related to child and adolescent psychiatric assessments, he began to study family and couples therapy, as well as individual psychotherapy with a dynamic approach. In addition to his work as a specialist, he is a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Semmelweis University.

At Panorama, in addition to providing individual adult psychotherapy, he also works as a member of the paediatric ADHD team.

Dr Garas works in Hungarian and English.

Please note! Due to its structure, our clinic does not undertake the diagnosis or treatment of childhood autism spectrum disorders.

Main areas of expertise

  • individual psychotherapy for adults
  • childhood ADHD: child psychiatric examination as part of ADHD assessment for children over 4 years of age; child psychiatric follow-up examination
  • other child psychiatric conditions (e.g., mood disorders, anxiety) for children over 4 years of age

’In my therapeutic practice, I primarily approach the difficulties that have arisen from a dynamic and systemic perspective. I believe that relationships are of paramount importance in the therapeutic space, where any momentum that can open the door to change and development can emerge. In addition, the systemic approach extends the individual focus to the family and the couple, where the dynamics of the system members can create different symptoms in their interactions with each other.’
