The howling silence of the trauma dumbfounds both the individual and the
community. Whether it affects the individual or society, trauma is a
disease of lack of freedom with symptoms of individual and collective
selfishness, injustice, casteism, sadness and spiritual ugliness. Trauma
locks you into transcendental homelessness from which only the Other
person can lead you out.

Clinical philosophy brings into view an open question for social psychology
and psychoanalysis.: Does an individual exist? Psychoanalysis links the
power of civilization that holds individual together to common values and
attachment to them. Social psychology can think about the group-level
representation of social processes. The question is whether we can
understand the individual through social psychology, and whether we can
understand the psychological processes of society through psychoanalysis.

When Panoráma Polyclinic was established, one of the central ideas was
that the body and soul should be examined both separately and as a
whole. In our opinion, the situation is similar regarding the individual and
the group: it is important to be curious about what is going on inside the
patient, but at the same time we cannot overlook the fact that the
individual is affected by a lot of influences in his/her narrower and wider
environment, often ones that he/she is not even aware of. We are looking
for the place of therapy groups in our system, and we are even examining
the place of the clinic as a system too, shaping it in the larger whole. We
would like to know more about what kind of social characteristics, values
and trends we live in. A good opportunity for this is to talk to two well-
known experts – their books have recently been published.
