Baseline assessments for patients arriving for their first psychiatric examination

For an initial psychiatric consultation, a set of baseline assessments is required, including specific laboratory tests and an ECG. In line with professional standards, these investigations form part of the Panoráma Polyclinic’s adult psychiatry protocol and are in place to ensure the health and safety of our patients.

If the patient already has laboratory results and an ECG that are no more than six months old, we request that these are provided to us prior to the first appointment—and these will be accepted, provided the laboratory panel is complete. Where recent results are not available, laboratory testing and ECG can be performed at our clinic. Where possible, it is preferable that the results are available at the time of the first consultation. In certain individual cases—based on clinical judgement—the psychiatrist may adjust the required range of tests or decide to forgo some of the baseline investigations.
