Dr Péter Garas

pediatric and adolescent psychiatric specialist, family therapist candidate, psychotherapist candidate

I graduated from the Semmelweis University in Budapest, in 2009. I started my residency training in the direction of psychiatry, during which I soon became committed to child and youth psychiatry. Then I worked at the Vadaskert Hospital for 9 years, and at the same time I also worked in the field of pedagogy and child protection. After that, in parallel with child and adolescent psychiatric examinations, I began to study family- and couples therapy. In my therapeutic work, I deal with the evolved difficulty primarily in a system approach. In addition to my specialist and therapeutic work, I am a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Semmelweis University.

I think that in the therapeutic atmosphere, the relationship is of special significance, where any momentum that can open the door to change and healing can appear. Furthermore, system approach also extends the individual focus to the family, the couple as a set of interacting relationships, where the dynamics of system members can create different symptoms.
