Allergy consultation in English and Italian as well!

Allergy is an excessive reaction of the body to allergens. At the pediatric allergology private consultation we treat these symptomatic reactions. The substances that cause allergic complaints are the so-called allergens which can be almost infinitely diverse: pollens, fungal spores, animal hair, mites, certain food, medicines, insecticides, microorganisms, heavy metals, latex and chemicals – to mention just the most common of the numerous allergens, but we can continue the list.

The allergens usually enter the body through the airways, but there are also those that people get in contact with through the skin or the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, allergy can not only cause respiratory symptoms (sneezing, coughing, running nose, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, wheezing, etc.) but can also cause itching, tearing and swelling eyes as well as skin and gastrointestinal complaints.

Here, we would also like to draw attention to the fact that more and more people are affected by histamine intolerance too. Dr Dóra Pászka, the pediatric allergist of our clinic, pays utmost attention to patients with symptoms of histamine intolerance.

Symptoms of histamine intolerance may include:

  • skin redness, hives, eczematous itching
  • headache (which is migraine-like), dizziness
  • severe palpitation (heartbeat)
  • runny nose, nasal congestion
  • shortness of breath, possibly asthma attack
  • sore throat, itchy throat
  • bloating, abdominal pain, abdominal cramps
  • diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

In more severe cases, a so-called anaphylactic reaction may occur!

„I believe that a well-informed parent is the most effective partner in the healing process. I consider it very important that children should be cared for by a team, in a multidisciplinary way that allows for individualized treatment. Allergology is often a frontier between gastroenterology and pulmonology, so collaboration with these specialists is essential in the care of certain conditions. In addition to them, our work is also supported by the expertise of dietetitians and psychologists.

I graduated from Semmelweis University in 2007 at the faculty of general medicine. In 2012 I obtained professional specialisation in pediatrics, in 2021 in clinical immunology and allergology. Since 2012 I have been working at the children’s care of the Institute for Pulmonary diseases in Törökbálint, gaining experience in the examination and treatment of respiratory and food allergies.”

It is the pediatrician’s task to bridge the gap between families and illnesses, which is especially important in the case of allergies that often produce frightening symptoms. The pediatricians at Panoráma Polyclinic pay special attention to ensuring that families should receive detailed information, and any questions they may have should be answered patiently in addition to careful examination and personalized treatment.
