Indication interview

What is the indication interview and why do we use it at Panoráma Polyclinic?

Indication means recommendation. In medical sense, it is therefore a reason to use a certain test, medication and treatment.

Why do we use it in psychotherapeutic care?

The indication interview is used to follow professional guidelines for psychotherapy and prevent waiting lists. It can speed up patient management and avoid unnecessary waiting (the waiting list can be shortened).

How is the indication interview performed?

The interview is conducted by a specialist with both medical and psychotherapeutic qualifications. At our clinic, Dr Kinga Farkas and Dr András Spányik are the specialists who carry out the above-mentioned practice. After meeting the patients, the specialists assess whether the complaint(s) may be caused by a physical problem (e.g. hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism can be associated with mood disorders and panic-like symptoms). If this can be ruled out, the further aim of the discussion with the specialist is to choose the psychotherapeutic method that best suited to the patient’s personality and problem, and to assess whether combined treatment (psychotherapy and medication) would be the most appropriate treatment procedure.

Important note: for the indication interview, the patient is required to bring his/her final reports of previous specialist examinations and hospital treatment.

After consultation with a professional team, the specialist psychotherapist leading the interview formulates the therapeutic proposal of which the patient is informed within two weeks (usually 10 working days).

Duration of the interview: 50 minutes
